American Century Investments® is guided by core values that shape the way we conduct our business. These have been in place since 1958, when James E. Stowers Jr. founded the company and they have not changed.
These values include a strong commitment to helping others and building a strong community.
One example is that in 1994, Jim and Virginia Stowers decided they wanted to give back something "more valuable than money" to the millions of people who helped make their success possible.
As cancer survivors, they were determined to focus on the most significant things in life and looked for a way to improve the quality of others' lives so they, too, can survive. Their decision was to create the Stowers Institute for Medical Research — one of the most innovative biomedical research organizations in the world.
American Century Investments echo's the Stowers' model of giving something "more valuable than money" by strategically focusing its giving.
American Century Investments encourages its employees to become involved in the community. We support their commitment with our Dollars for Donors and Mutual Friends volunteer programs.
Dollars for Donors is our matching-gifts program which recognizes our employees' contributions of time and money. Through this unique program, employees can direct a portion of the American Century Investments Foundation giving to qualified organizations they personally support.
Mutual Friends is American Century Investments' corporate volunteer program that uses the time and talents of our employees to help others. In the past, our volunteers have participated in activities like community clean-up efforts, home rehabilitation, blood drives, caring for animals, classroom education and area telethons.
If you would like to have your organization considered as a recipient of our volunteer efforts, send an introductory letter explaining your interests, and how we might help, to:
