We charge a semiannual account maintenance fee to investors whose total investments are less than $10,000. Below is a description of our fee policy as well as information about waiving the fee. Learn more about our account maintenance fee.

Fee Policy Specifics

  • Personal mutual fund investors, including IRA investors, whose total investments are less than $10,000 are subject to the fee. Personal accounts include individual, joint, UGMA/UTMA, personal trusts, Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (formerly Education IRAs) and traditional, Roth and Rollover IRAs.
  • If you have only business, business retirement [SEP-, SARSEP-, SIMPLE-IRAs, 403(b)s and 457(b)s], you are currently not subject to this fee, but you may be subject to others.
  • The $12.50 fee is deducted in May and November from one of your personal mutual fund accounts.
  • We will review investment balances on the last Friday of April and October each year. If your total investments are less than $10,000 at that time, $12.50 will automatically be deducted from one of your personal mutual fund accounts within seven business days.
  • Your total investment balance is based on the sum of personal and most business retirement accounts (listed under your Social Security number), such as SEP-, SARSEP- and SIMPLE-IRAs, you have opened directly with American Century® or American Century Brokerage.*
  • Account maintenance fees do not apply to non-matured Giftrust® accounts.
  • Non-resident aliens and foreign investors who do not have a U.S. Social Security number are not subject to the fee.

*For American Century Brokerage, only assets from American Century funds are considered in your total investment balance.

Waive the Fee

To waive the account maintenance fee, you can increase and maintain a total investment balance of $10,000 or more.
