Most of our benefits are available to eligible employees the first day of employment. Our generous paid-time-off program allows a minimum of 19 days per calendar year with nine paid holidays. American Century Retirement Plan
The company's Retirement Plan is our way of helping you, as we help investors, to start preparing early for retirement. It includes:
- 401(k) Contributions
- Pretax and/or Roth 401(k) deferrals up to 80% of your eligible compensation, subject to annual IRS limits
- Immediate eligibility
- Additional catch-up contributions if you are 50 or over, subject to annual IRS limits
- Company-Matching Contributions
- Company matches every dollar you save up to 4% of your eligible compensation
- True-up match at year-end to ensure you have received the maximum possible match for the year based on your contribution percentage
- Retirement Contribution*
- Each year the company announces a retirement contribution aligned with financial results. This contribution is 100% discretionary.
*You must be employed with the company on Dec. 31 and be credited with at least 1,000 hours of service during the year to be eligible for the retirement contribution. A portion of the contribution can be in the form of privately-held stock of American Century Companies, Inc.

Full time and part time employees are eligible to receive an annual incentive based on individual performance against measured goals and contribution to our company's profitability and growth.
Life Insurance & Disability
- Basic Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
American Century Investments provides basic life insurance and AD&D coverage for eligible employees. Premiums for this coverage are paid by American Century Investments.
- Disability Insurance
The purpose of disability insurance is to provide replacement income when personal injury or sickness causes you to be absent from work. Premiums for short- and long-term disability are paid by American Century Investments.
Tax Savings Plan
The tax savings plan can provide significant tax savings for eligible participants. It allows you to set aside pretax dollars to pay for eligible expenses you have incurred during the plan year. These expenses are divided into the following categories:
- reimbursable medical, prescriptions, dental and vision expenses, up to $5,000 per calendar year
- reimbursable child and dependent care expenses, up to $5,000 per calendar year
Newly hired and current employees who relocate at the company's request may be eligible to receive relocation benefits.
American Century Investments offers several options for medical coverage. Each medical option offers coverage for medical and Rx services. We encourage preventive care by covering certain services at 100%.
We offer extensive prescription drug programs, which covers medically necessary prescription drugs and oral contraceptives.
Your medical and prescription drug coverage begins on the first day of employment.
Plus One Coverage
American Century Investments offers a unique opportunity to cover a "Plus One" individual in lieu of your spouse. A Plus One individual is generally defined as either a full-time member of your household or your "domestic partner" who has lived with you for a minimum of 12 months and meets other eligible requirements.
Dental insurance, an important part of your overall health coverage, includes preventive services covered at 100%. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
Our vision plan pays the majority of the fees associated with routine eye care. American Century Investments also pays the entire premium for employees and their eligible dependents. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
Retired Medical Option
Retired employees who meet specific requirements may elect medical coverage for themselves and eligible dependents.
Employee Assistance Program
The program provides confidential, professional counseling at no charge for things like general and critical incident stress, substance abuse, family issues, financial problems, psychological and relationship issues, legal and vocational difficulties and childcare and elder-care needs.
Fitness Centers and Health Education
American Century Investments believes a healthy, vibrant workforce is a key component to our success and growth. Our wellness programs are designed to give you a variety of opportunities to improve your health and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Programs include on-site preventive screenings, fitness centers, health education and coaching from qualified wellness professionals.
There are many opportunities to earn prizes and cash incentives for participation in the program. All events are voluntary and health information is confidential.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Employees receive from 19 to 24 days of PTO per calendar year. You have the flexibility you need to do what you want with your PTO days. Even though you earn PTO throughout the year, they are available on your first day of employment.
You receive nine paid holidays a year. The schedule is subject to change based on the New York Stock Exchange hours of operation.
Employees are eligible for a four-week paid sabbatical beginning Jan. 1 following the year in which their seven-year anniversary occurs and every five years thereafter.
Parental leave is available to take within six months following the birth or adoption of your child and is in addition to any time off granted under the short- or long-term disability plan.
Other leaves are available for bereavement, jury duty, or military service. You may also take unpaid leave when covered under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
