ADP and American Century Investments® are working together to streamline the plan termination process and help you distribute plan assets easily and efficiently.

Plan Termination: Next Steps

  1. Notify Plan Participants

Send all participants information about the automatic rollover distribution from the plan. You are required to notify participants via certified mail 60 days before the distribution date you chose.

Use the sample termination notice or create your own.

  2. Educate Participants About the Transition

Following the termination notification, communicate to participants that American Century will help them through the transition from your plan. Use our email template, which links to our FAQ flyer that provides information about the American Century services available to them.

  3. ADP Distributes the Assets

ADP transfers the plan assets to American Century. Then American Century will begin a six-month outreach to assist participants with their new IRA accounts. ADP files the final Form 5500.
