KANSAS CITY, Mo., November 19, 2013 - American Century Investments announced the launch of a new tool aimed at helping retirement plan advisors and sponsors assess plan effectiveness for better participant outcomes.

Plan Health ProSM is an online resource designed to help determine overall retirement plan health. Using a series of questions and answers, the plan is evaluated for plan health, retirement readiness and due diligence.

The tool was created to underscore American Century Investments' commitment to the defined contribution plan space, according to Rick Luchinsky, senior vice president and head of the firm's defined contribution investment-only (DCIO) business.

"We wanted to offer our clients an easy-to-use, thoughtful way to look at defined contribution plans that would objectively assess plan health while helping document fiduciary responsibilities," Luchinsky said. "Plan Health Pro is just one of the ways we try to provide advisors and plan sponsors with services that help participants achieve the retirement they envision."

The tool takes into consideration aspects such as plan objectives, plan design, participant communications and investments. Once the plan sponsor or advisor completes the questionnaire, the result is a personalized report, including a green, yellow, and red scorecard on a plan's effectiveness and suggested areas of improvement. The report may serve as historical documentation of a plan's progress to helping participants achieve retirement readiness.
