Impacting the lives of others
Our Giving Philosophy
We're guided by core values that shape the way we conduct our business. These include a commitment to helping others and building strong communities.
As a company, we echo our founder’s model of giving back. By founding and endowing the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, Jim and Virginia Stowers instilled a drive that impacts all employees to give their time, talents and financial support.
The American Century Investments Foundation
The American Century Investments Foundation, established in 2000, is overseen by a board of directors that establishes guidelines and priorities and makes all grant decisions. A portion of the Foundation's grants are awarded through the Dollars for Donors program, and a portion through a twice-yearly application process.
In 2020, through these programs, the Foundation granted almost $2 million to nonprofit organizations in the communities where employees live and work.

Dollars for Donors
Dollars for Donors is our matching-gifts program which recognizes our employees' philanthropic contributions.
Through this program, the American Century Investments Foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, employees' volunteer time and financial contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations. Employee participation in the Dollars for Donors program, which is available in all of our locations, has maintained a rate 280% higher than the national average for employee matching programs.
Twice yearly, the American Century Investments® Foundation considers grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations. The Foundation prefers to grant money to organizations that provide innovative, sustainable opportunities and inspire growth in the communities where our employees live and work.
Preferential support is given to organizations demonstrating strong leadership and successful programming where our employees have significant and recurring involvement. Nonprofit organizations that wish to apply for a grant may complete the online application process. The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation assists in grants administration.
