American Century Private Investments™
Invest in what the world needs
Private investments offer qualified institutional investors the ability to invest in companies and instruments that aren’t available in the public markets. They can enhance a portfolio’s diversification and potential for returns.
American Century Private Investments’ team aims to put capital to work for the greater good, seeking out early-stage companies with the potential to grow while improving people’s well-being. We look for companies in the healthcare and climate sectors. Focus areas include delivering advancements in clean air, food, water, shelter, education, healthcare, sanitation, and climate and environmental sustainability.
When we identify companies aligned with our mission, we go beyond due diligence. We build relationships grounded in a shared vision, transparency, and mutual accountability.
Climate + Healthcare = Well-being
Healthcare and Climate concerns are undeniably linked. Together they represent some of the world’s biggest problems, and we believe some of the biggest opportunities. Solving these intersecting problems can help positively influence human well-being and offers the potential for strong returns. That’s why we take an “and” approach, rather than an “either/or” one, searching for the hungriest, most innovative management teams in both sectors.

Many of American Century’s investment strategies incorporate sustainability factors, using environmental, social, and/or governance (ESG) data, into their investment processes in addition to traditional financial analysis. However, when doing so, the portfolio managers may not consider sustainability-related factors with respect to every investment decision and, even when such factors are considered, they may conclude that other attributes of an investment outweigh sustainability factors when making decisions for the portfolio. The incorporation of sustainability factors may limit the investment opportunities available to a portfolio, and the portfolio may or may not outperform those investment strategies that do not incorporate sustainability factors. ESG data used by the portfolio managers often lacks standardization, consistency, and transparency, and for certain companies such data may not be available, complete, or accurate.
