Charles Tan

Charles Tan is a senior vice president, chief investment officer of Global Fixed Income and senior portfolio manager for American Century Investments^®.

As CIO of Global Fixed Income, Mr. Tan oversees portfolio management and research for the firm’s fixed income strategies, managed in offices in Santa Clara, Calif., New York City, and London, England. He serves as Chair of the Global Fixed Income Investment Committee, which sets investment outlook for the Global Fixed Income group and monitors overall risk management for each fixed income strategy. Along with his CIO responsibilities, Mr. Tan is a co-portfolio manager on several of the firm’s fixed income strategies. He also serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Oversight and Asset Allocation Committees.

Mr. Tan joined the firm in 2018 from Aberdeen Standard Investments (previously Aberdeen Asset Management), where he held a series of leadership roles, including head of North American Fixed Income. Prior to that, he was vice president and senior high yield analyst at Moody's Investors Service. Previously, he was a credit officer with First Commercial Bank of Philadelphia (HSBC Bank). He has worked in the investment industry since 1994.

Mr. Tan earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing and an MBA from Bucknell University.
