Money Market Sweep Account Options
Sweep account cash balances can continue working for you and earning interest with a money market fund that you choose. Money market funds typically accrue daily dividends. We sweep cash balances into these accounts from non-reinvested dividends and from security transaction proceeds and deposit into the money market fund you select daily.
You can choose one of the following money market funds for your sweep account, but if you are opening a retirement account, you can choose between the first five funds.
American Century Capital Preservation Fund: Invests in short-term money market securities issued by the U.S. Treasury that are guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. The income from these securities is exempt from state income taxes.
American Century Prime Money Market Fund: Seeks to earn the highest level of current income while preserving the value of your investment.
American Century U.S. Government Money Market Fund: Invests at least 80% of assets in securities backed by the U.S. government in pursuit of current income, liquidity, and capital preservation.
Federated Hermes Capital Reserves Fund: Seeks current income consistent with stability of principal and liquidity by investing primarily in a portfolio of high-quality, dollar-denominated, fixed-income securities that: (1) are issued by banks, corporations and the U.S. government; and (2) mature in 397 days or less.
Federated Hermes Government Reserves Fund: Seeks current income consistent with stability of principal and liquidity by investing in a portfolio of U.S. Treasury and government securities maturing in 397 days or less and repurchase agreements collateralized fully by U.S. Treasury and government securities.
American Century California Tax-Free Money Market Fund: Seeks safety of principal and high current income that is exempt from federal and California income taxes.
Federated Hermes New York Municipal Cash Trust: Seeks current income exempt from federal regular income tax and the personal income taxes imposed by New York State and New York municipalities consistent with stability of principal by investing in a portfolio of high-quality New York tax-exempt securities maturing in 397 days or less.
American Century Tax-Free Money Market Fund: Seeks safety of principal and high current income that is exempt from federal income tax.
Please Note: If you do not select a money market fund for your sweep account, the Prime Money Market Fund will automatically be selected for accounts beneficially owned by natural persons or the U.S. Government Money Market Fund will automatically be selected for accounts not owned by natural persons. This is not and should not be considered as advice or a recommendation. This is done as a matter of convenience if you do not otherwise choose from the available options. Please obtain investment advice if you want a selection based on your investment profile and needs.
Margin Feature
Experience more flexibility in trading securities with a margin account. Borrowing on margin lets you use the securities in your account as collateral.
However, you may incur some risk with margin borrowing, and this feature is not for everyone. More information can be found in the Customer Agreement. You can request a copy of the Customer Agreement and/or a Margin Feature Authorization Form by calling one of our Brokerage Investment Specialists at 1-888-345-2071.
