Jonathan Thomas has served as Chief Executive Officer and President of American Century Investments® since 2007. As the company's highest-ranking executive and leader of the firm’s management committee, Mr. Thomas is responsible for creating, communicating and implementing American Century Investments’ strategic vision, mission and overall direction. Additionally, Mr. Thomas has chaired the firm's Board of Directors since 2025 and has served as a member of the Board since 2005.
It was in 2005 that Mr. Thomas joined American Century Investments as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. As CFO/EVP, Mr. Thomas' core responsibilities included overseeing the firm's financial, fund accounting, retail sales, audit and administrative functions. Mr. Thomas also served as the Chief Investment Officer for the company.
Prior to joining American Century Investments, Mr. Thomas was Global Chief Operating Officer for Morgan Stanley's Investment Management division in New York City. While at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Thomas served as President of Morgan Stanley Trust Company, Chief Administrative Officer in charge of Operations, Strategy and Products and Chief Risk Officer for Investment Management.
Mr. Thomas began his career in the asset management industry at Fidelity Investments and later held senior leadership positions at Bank of America, where he oversaw operations for both the asset and wealth management divisions of the bank and led a variety of acquisition/integration initiatives. He also has served in senior roles at Boston Financial Data Services (BFDS), and First Data Corporation (FDC).
Mr. Thomas graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and earned an MBA from Boston College. He is a member of the Board of Governors at the Investment Company Institute. Additionally, Mr. Thomas chairs the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and BioMed Valley Discoveries Boards of Directors.
